Fixing a monetary limit of Rs. 1.000/- - in which cases should be sent for
investigation by the police instructions - Reiterated.

Instructions were issued in the Memo. cited to the effect that in order to reduce the number of cases sent for investigation by police, a monetary limit or Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees one thousand) and below be fixed for initiating departmental action in misappropriation cases.
2. The Public Accounts Committee in its earlier reports from Vth Legislative Assembly to IXth Legislative Assembly has recommended inter alia that in order to reduce the number of cases sent for investigation by the police and for prosecution, a monetary limit should be set below which the cases should be handled departmentally and departmental action to be taken against persons alleged to have committed misappropriation etc.
3. Government accepts the above recommendation and the instructions issued in the reference cited are therefore reiterated.
4. All the Departments of Secretariat and the Heads of Departments are requested to follow the above instructions scrupulously and also communicate the above instructions to the concerned disciplinary authorities for their guidance.
