ORDER:
In the G.O. read above, orders were issued amending sub-rule (2) of rule 22-A of the Andhra Pradesh State and Subordinate Service Rules, reserving 30% or the posts in the matter of direct recruitment for women in Public Services for which both men and women are equally suited in each of the category of O.C., B.C-A. B.C.-C, B.C-D, S.C., S.T., Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen quota and that if sufficient number of women candidates are not available, the vacancies shall he filled by men.
2. The Government had an occasion to review the above policy in the light or the judgment dated 19-2-1996 or Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal in O.A. No: 4654/95 and batch and have decided that henceforth the existing percentage of 30% or posts reserved for women candidates be enhanced to 33 1/3% in the matter of direct recruitment in the State and subordinate Services where both men and women are equally suited.
3. The Government Accordingly direct that in the matter or direct recruitment for posts for which women and men are equally suited, there shall be reservation to women to the extent of 33 1/3% or the posts in each category of O.C., B.C-A., B.C-13., B.C-C., B.C-D., S.C., S.T., Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen quota. The Government also direct that if sufficient number of women candidates are not available, the vacancies shall be filled by men.
4. Necessary amendments to the Andhra Pradesh State and
Subordinate Service Rules will be issued separately
