In view of ensuing General Elections to House of People 1998 and as per the instructions of Election Commission of India, Government in the G.O. first cited have issued orders, among other things, freezing all recruitments under different Departments, Public Sector Corporations and other Autonomous Organisations exclusively or substantively funded from State Exchequer, till 15-03-1998.

2. The District Collector, Guntur in his Fax message second cited has requested to clarify whether the election norms in respect of freeze on new recruitments are applicable to the compassionate appointments to the dependents of deceased Government Employees who die in harness.

3. It is hereby clarified that the orders issued in the G.O. first cited in respect j of freeze on new recruitments in view of ensuing General Elections to House of People 1998 are also applicable to the compassionate appointments to the dependents of deceased Government Employees who die in harness while in service. As such appointments on compassionate grounds also cannot be taken up till 15-03-1998.
