In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 72 read with sub- section (3) of Section 65 of the Andhra Pradesh Excise Act, 1968 (Andhra Pradesh Act 17 of 1968), the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby makes the following rules:

1. Short title and commencement: -

(1) These rules may be called the Andhra Pradesh Excise (Levy of Interest on Government Dues) Rules, 1982.

(a) They shall come-into force at once in so far as they relate to payment of arrears of rentals mentioned in Rule 28 of the Andhra Pradesh Excise (Arrack and Toddy licenses General Conditions) Rules, 1969 and 

 

(b) They shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st July, 1981 in respect of other Government moneys due mentioned in Section 65 of the Act.

2. Definitions: -

In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires: 

(a) “Act” means The A.P. Excise Act, 1968 (A.P. Act 17 of 1968).

3. Interest: -

The arrears of money recoverable under Section 65 of the Act shall-bear interest at the rate of eighteen percent per annum.  (The words ‘eighteen’ substituted by GO.Ms.No.1142, Revenue, dated 13.9.1986)
